About General Pump
General Pump has been providing pumps and fluid power components to industries across the country since 1982. Today General Pump has 60 plus employees. They produce over 12,000 products and support customers in more than 40 countries. General Pump's design and engineering teams are housed in their Minnesota headquarters, manufacturing facility, and distribution center. This 54,000 square foot facility combines service, industry knowledge, and technology in one productive central location. General Pump is proud to be a part of the InterPump Group, along with Italian pump manufacturer Pratissoli.

While they are best known for pressure washer plunger pumps, but General Pump offers a wide array of car wash pumps for self-service wash as well as automatic and tunnel wash, too! Car wash pumps are specifically designed to reliably and consistently handle high temperatures, high pressures, and the harsh chemicals used in the industry. These pumps typically operate within a pressure range of 100 PSI to 10,000 PSI and flow rates of 1-10 GPM depending on the model and your application.
Pumps are the heart of any car wash operation. Pumps move fluid through a system by creating a pressure difference between its inlet and outlet, causing the fluid to flow from a low-pressure area to a high-pressure area. This is achieved by using mechanical energy to displace the fluid, either through a rotating impeller, a reciprocating piston, or other mechanisms.Â
Maintenance Considerations for Extended Pump Life
Keep your General Pumps in the best working order with OEM replacement parts, also available when maintenance or repair time comes. Common wear parts include plungers (pistons), seals and packings, valves, valve seats, crankcase bearings, crankshafts and the pump manifold. These parts can experience wear over time due to the pump's high-pressure operation and the nature of the fluids being pumped including abrasives and corrosives.
Regularly inspect and replace seals and packing to prevent leaks, and be sure to use clean, filtered fluids to minimize abrasive wear. Maintain proper crankcase oil levels and change oil per manufacturer recommendations. It's helpful to monitor for cavitation (e.g., air bubbles in fluid) to reduce valve and manifold damage. Follow manufacturer guidelines for replacing plungers and valves based on operating hours or performance decline.
